MUSC was contracted by the port authorities of Belgium to carry out security assessments of the country's ports and to develop an effective national maritime security regime. Over 160 facilities were covered in this project. Work continues with Antwerp and Ghent on the introduction of the European Directive on Port Security and associated EU initiatives.
MUSC:
Identified valuable assets and key infrastructure
Identified possible threats and assess the likely impact of an attack
Established effective security measures and guidelines
Created an organisational structure capable of implementing new security measures
Ensured coordination between all departments involved in port security
Trained port officials to a high standard of professionalism
Brass LNG is constructing an LNG production and transportation plant on the Niger Delta coast. MUSC was engaged to survey the site for unexploded ordnance, conduct risk assessments, create a security plan and advise the fore-end engineering design stage of the project.
MUSC:
Performed risk analysis of the design of the entire marine base case and its various installations
Foresaw possible attack scenarios in relation to the actual threat in the Niger Delta Region and identified the most
likely methods of attack
Analysed the possible effect of commonly used explosives/weapons if activated underneath LNG/LPG pipelines
Developed a plan for overall security – land and sea – for the entire facility
Ensured that all parts of the project were physically secure and complied with the ISPS Code
Provided clear recommendations on:
- The use of Exclusion Zones
- Mitigation measures to be implemented
Made contact and negotiated with local villagers and tribes to secure the unhindered investigation and survey of the
LNG site
Carried out hydrographic survey and investigation
Liaised with local police and military, to develop a national maritime border security strategy
MUSC was contracted to provide a project management and consultant team for maritime security audits and to create security plans for port oil terminal complexes and offshore oil and gas production structures in the United Arab Emirates.
MUSC:
Performed security assessments of all Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) terminals
Provided recommendations to ADNOC management for updating of security procedures and plans in accordance
with the ISPS Code
Developed of an overall security plan for all ADNOC installations
Developed of Security training programme
Trained ADNOC personnel in Security matters
NATIONAL OIL CORPORATION – LIBYA
MUSC was contracted by the National Oil Corporation (NOC) to provide a project management and consultant team for maritime security audits and security plans for ten oil sites both offshore and in port complexes in Libya.
MUSC:
Performed Maritime Security audits of all NOC facilities in Libya
Liaised with NOC and other security organisations for data gathering
Advised NOC Management on the introduction of security plans and procedures
Delivered security training for key NOC personnel
Developed an overall security plan for NOC facilities
MUSC conducted port and facility security assessments and planning for one of Italy’s largest ports, the busiest cruise liner terminal in Europe.
MUSC:
Developed port security strategy
Created operating procedures for the Port Security Council
Designed overall port security system
Oversaw all security equipment procurements
Prepared the port's budgets for the project

UK - Recovery of buried bombs:
Trepan and steam out explosive

JAPAN – Installation of subsea telecom cable for Cable and Wireless Marine:
Cable routed through ordnance dump area in 25m of water
Area surveyed with Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) and divers
Several tonnes of mixed WW2 ordnance moved to provide clear ground for cable burial
USA – Installation of cable spur from Alaska into Panama City, Oregon for Cable and Wireless Marine:
Underwater survey of disused torpedo range prior to cable vessel burial
Two torpedoes identified and marked prior to landing cable
QATAR – Product line and offshore facilities ordnance survey:
Desktop Study and site visits

Developed security procedures for Qatar Gas and Petroleum Corporation (QGPC)
