MUSC presents at the Maritime Information Exchange Vessel Operators Meeting (MIEVOM)

11 November 2010

Tim Hart and Robbie Allam travelled to Dubai to present at the MIEVOM conference hosted by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Organisation (UKMTO). MIEVOM is a forum for an information exchange between marine owners/operators in the Arabian Gulf and the military forces in the region. It is always a well attended meeting with attendees drawn from all sectors of the marine industry; security, shipping companies, asset owners, operators and energy companies.

The maritime intelligence team’s presentation was titled ‘Gulf of Arabia Maritime Security Threats’ and comprised of an overview of maritime security threats faced by operators in the Arabian Gulf. The presentation was chosen based upon each of the presenter’s experiences at the previous MIEVOM’s and the perceived lack of security awareness from operators in the region.

Key questions formed the basis of the presentation; threats to the maritime environment, specific threats to shipping and future threats to shipping in the region. A Question and Answer session then followed with Tim and Robbie fielding questions concerning the M Star attack, Iran, Kuwaiti security and military bases in the region.

The presentation received excellent feedback from the UKMTO and cemented MUSC’s good relationship with the organisation.
