MUSC complete the inspection survey of the VLCC wreck: Amuriyah, in Iraqi waters.

27 December 2011

MUSC have recently completed a resoundingly successful inspection survey of the VLCC wreck Amuriyah in Iraqi Waters as part of the Iraq Crude Oil Export Expansion Project for South Oil Company (Iraq). The wreck has been resting on the seabed since she was sunk during the 1st Gulf War.

MUSC, together with salvage experts Disa International, did a complete diving inspection and sonar survey of the wreck, creating complex diagrams of the vessel, taking ultrasonic testing of the thickness of the hull and undertaking a comprehensive cargo inspection. The MUSC diving spread and our very own survey catamaran: MUSC Surveyor, were utilised on the project.
