Risk can be viewed as uncertainty of outcome, positive or negative, due to natural or induced actions and events. It can be measured by combining likelihood, vulnerability and consequence. MUSC’s risk mitigation services start with a risk assessment, undertaken on site and backed up by database support to allow timely risk assessments of complex environments, large and small. After the assessment, a risk management plan is produced that establishes the processes involved in identifying, assessing and judging risks, assigning ownership, taking actions to mitigate or to pre-empt incidents. Good risk management helps reduce hazard, and builds confidence amongst stakeholders.
