Vessel Security

SERVICES

An estimated 94 per cent of all goods around the world are transported by international shipping, and new security codes reflect the need to protect vessels from a number of threats. The introduction of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) code has standardised the way in which marine security is managed and MUSC offers a range of training courses enabling ship owners and operators to comply with these rules, thus reducing the risk of delay, arrest or detention.

We are also skilled in drawing up a range of security solutions for both vessels and fleets. Every one of our assessors has had previous maritime security experience, is Det Norske Veritas (DNV)/ISPS certified and is qualified to advise on a range of customised solutions. They are also experienced in drawing up Ship Security Plans (SSP).

MUSC is regularly employed by vessel operators to conduct drills and exercises for their crews. Such training has proved crucial in reducing the risk from a variety of hostile or dangerous situations.

The threat of piracy and hijacking is a real danger on shipping routes; as a result vessels operate in areas which require extra vigilance and security. MUSC is expert at providing a range of counter piracy solutions (link to page) which will assist with a safe and trouble-free transit.
